Earthquake in Chennai India, Nicobar, Tremors, Tsunami Alert Activated

An earthquake was felt in the late hours of night in Orissa, Chennai, Andaman and Nicobar Islands earlier. The quake was found to have originated from the Bay of Bengal. Nearby cities, Hong Kong, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur and Khurda in Orissa also felt tremors.

Tremors felt on the places mentioned were because of an earthquake that occurred at 7.9 degree north and 91.9 degree east-west coast of Andaman and Nicobar Islands measuring of 7.8 in Richter scale at 12.56 am.

Casualty were also reported to be minimal however, The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued a tsunami watch for all areas of the Indian Ocean following the quake.
